We are based two hours inland from the coastline, just on the shore of the Hardangerfjord. Where the mountains meet the sea.
The area of Hardanger is incredibly scenic, thousands of tourists come here every year to enjoy the great views and be wowed by the breathtaking nature. We are close to several popular tourist attractions such as Trolltunga, Folgefonna glacier, Vøringsfossen, Steindalsfossen, Flåm and many others.
If you like the outdoors, there is a lot to see and do here and we are happy to help you make arrangements if you would like to give your bike a rest for a day.
We will provide breakfast and dinner for every day of your stay. We cook everything ourselves in the kitchen at the farm and we mainly cook vegetarian but also fish and sea food. Once per week we have a barbecue in the boathouse!
We can cater for most needs, just contact us for further information.
Lunch is the only meal of the day that is not catered for by us. We will discuss it with you, make sure to plan the day around it and stop at a restaurant, café or supermarket - whatever works with your budget.
For getting here there are two main options:
Whether you want picked up from the airport or train/bus station, the pickup and drop-off is included in the price.
If you have some other way of getting here in mind just let us know, we are flexible and will try to accommodate your request.
The Norwegian climate can be unpredictable. During the summer you can get glorious hot and sunny days, but it can also get wet and rainy. The weather can even vary from the top to the bottom of the mountain. This is part of what makes the riding so interesting.
We recommend you keep an eye on the weather report (we strongly recommend yr.no) before your trip here, but also pack for the unexpected. So don't forget your short sleeve and sunnies, but also bring a wind and waterproof layer to put in your backpack. It's always better to be safe than sorry when you are up in the mountains!
You will be housed at our little farm Solbakken that sits just on the shore of the Hardangerfjord. It's an old wooden house with three guest bedrooms, a cozy living room with a wood burning stove, kitchen, a bathroom with shower, a workshop and plenty of room for bike storage in the basement. Along with the farmhouse also comes a barn (currently quite empty) and a boat house with a private pier.
We have been accommodating guests for over a year so the house is set up and ready for you to have a comfortable stay.
There is a dog, Nora, and a cat, Cat Stevens, living here with us.
